Embracing Gender Responsive Budgeting in Western Balkans, Initiatives in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia
This brochure showcases the initiatives and best practices in gender responsive budgeting (GRB), implemented in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Serbia, as part of the regional GRB project 'Transformative Financing for Gender Equality towards more Transparent, Inclusive and Accountable Governance in the Western Balkans', which is financially supported by the Government of Sweden - SIDA.
Besides providing information on the global perspective on GRB and what working on different governmental levels and with different stakeholders imply, the brochure provides best practice examples of GRB applications in different areas. The increased funding for gender equality resulted in improved position of women, especially from multi discriminated groups, and improved women's access to social and healthcare services, labour market and supported their socio-economic empowerment. The increased role of oversight institutions in GRB processes enables greater sustainability of the achieved results in all countries of GRB implementation, while the regional character of the project enables expanding knowledge of experts and stakeholders and sharing of best practices.
