Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026-2030

The Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (CF) 2026-2030 confirms the strategic partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations, focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and implementing the 2030 Agenda in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was adopted by the BiH Council of Ministers at its 99th Session on 15 January 2026 and the BiH Presidency at its 29th Session on 29 April 2026, and signed on July 2 2026 by the Chairwoman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, and UN BiH Resident Coordinator, Arnhild Spence. 

The Cooperation Framework is the key strategic document defining cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Nations system over the next five years, with the funding envelope estimated at 407 USD million and 19 UN entities as signatories. 

This CF describes three strategic priorities for joint work by 2030:

• Inclusive green growth
• Human capital development
• Accountable institutions and social cohesion

The CF connects the work of the UN system and provides a platform for common policy advice, advocacy and stronger coordination and delivery of results in cooperation with the authorities in BiH, civil society, the private sector and communities. 

It was developed jointly by the United Nations team in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Interdepartmental Working Group for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and represents a continuation of successful cooperation following the completion of the previous Cooperation Framework for the period 2021–2025.
