Police Implementing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda – A Training Manual for Police Officers

The publication Police Implementing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda – A Training Manual for Police Officers was developed as a practical resource to strengthen the capacity of the police to apply a gender-responsive and professional approach in their day-to-day work.

The Training Manual is intended primarily for trainers within police institutions, but it can also serve as a valuable resource for police agencies, institutions, and other stakeholders working to advance security, protect human rights, and strengthen trust between the police and the communities they serve.

The publication includes training content, methodological guidance, practical exercises, discussion questions, sample pre- and post-training questionnaires, as well as tools for evaluating training programmes. The Manual is structured around four modules:

• Human security and gender-responsive policing
• The position and role of women in the police and examples of human security principles in practice
• Preventing violence against women and protecting victims
• Hate speech and hate crimes

The Manual was developed as part of the "Women Lead the Way Towards Peace and Security in Bosnia and Herzegovina" initiative, jointly implemented by UN Women, IOM, and UNFPA, with the support of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), in partnership with the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
