Country Gender Equality Profile for Bosnia and Herzegovina
The Country Gender Equality Profile (CGEP) for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) provides a comprehensive, evidence-based overview of the state of gender equality and serves as a strategic foundation for joint action by the United Nations, government actors, international development partners, and local communities. It highlights persistent gender gaps, structural barriers, and limited opportunities for women across political, social, and economic life, with a strong focus on intersectionality.
By informing the United Nations Common Country Analysis (CCA) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), the CGEP supports evidence-based planning and programming aligned with international commitments, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - particularly SDG 5 on gender equality - while advancing Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path towards inclusive development and European Union accession.
